Denver pizza chains are in a state of anxiety right now. Over the last couple of months, several pizza restaurants have been robbed at gun point.
I rarely open the store, but one day a couple of weeks ago, I was visited by detective from the police department to warn us of some robberies that have been happening in our area. Apparently, the suspect has been entering through an open back door after dinner rush and before we lock things down. He has hit two of our stores and is brave enough to wait through the 15 minute time delay on the safe. Nobody has been hurt yet. But, we’ve all been warned to keep our back doors shut, even during the day and to have an increased level of awareness. We’ve been looking over security procedures and been even more cautious with how we handle money.
After one of our locations close to us was hit last night, I was given permission to shut down carry out early. Now, odds are that he wouldn’t do two hits in the same night. Especially with the same chain. But, you never know. I held off until I saw a suspicious looking car in the parking lot.
The next time you are in a pizza restaurant in Denver and the employees look a little nervous or have closed carry out early, please understand what’s going on. I hope this bastard gets caught soon. I don’t like working like this.
